The spiral staircase is comprised of conventionally reinforced concrete flat plate from 1st Floor to the 2nd Floor of the building. Two drilled piers at 30 inches in diameter were utilized as the main foundation system along with grade beams. At the 2nd Floor, the staircase is supported by 24 inches wide by 36 inches deep concrete beams supported by the main concrete columns. Due to its geometry, the spiral staircase would be subjected to twisting loads and requires that the end connections at the top and bottom supports are designed to resist this type of load in conjunction with the major and minor bending. Collaborated with the Structural Engineer of Record to make sure that the design of the primary structure can accommodate the induced loading from the staircase once completed. Reinforcement to the staircase were expertly detailed to ensure proper site installation of rebars.
